A novel assay for 5'-nucleotidase is described in which 1, N6-etheno-AMP is converted into
ethenoadenosine. The product ethenoadenosine is neither a substrate for nor an inhibitor of
adenosine deaminase. Ethenoadenosine appears to have little effect at adenosine
receptors on adipose-tissue cells.
Abstract
